What, Clay Aiken Wasn’t Available?
Director Steven Soderbergh, who showed his knowledge of Las Vegas with all the “Ocean’s Eleven” movies, is in the early stages of developing a film about one of Las Vegas’s all-time showmen — Liberace (left). Soderbergh has drafted Michael Douglas (right) to play the Lib-man. Douglas follows in the steps of Victor Garber, who played the sequins-loving piano player in a TV movie. According to Variety, “Soderbergh is in discussions with Matt Damon to play Scott Thorson, who sued Liberace in 1982 for $113 million in palimony, claiming he was the entertainer’s companion for five years. Even though Liberace never wavered from career-long denials that he was gay” — oh sure: and I’m the Queen of Rumania –“Thorson reportedly settled for $95,000 in 1986.”
