“There’s just no reconciling the movie’s preoccupation about Botox and facelifts with the heavily doctored appearances of its leading ladies.” That’s from the Variety review of this week’s movie release “The Women.” The critic apparently is being cattier than the movie itself, which according to most reports has been considerably de-clawed from the 1939 original. At least Variety didn’t call Meg Ryan a pig in lipstick. (Which in any context is an insult to the pig!)
