Venice’s Bridge To Somewhere
This bridge, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, will open in a few weeks in Venice. It is the first bridge to be constructed in Venice in 70 years and only the fourth that spans the Grand Canal. Admirers call the structure “a carpet of light”; detractors says it’s “a lobster.” Let’s just hope that not too many of the millions of tourists who yearly burden Venice manage to get on the bridge all at once.
