WW II Siren Jo Stafford Dies at 90
Jo Stafford (pictured), who was, with the possible exception of Rosemary Clooney and the young Doris Day, my favorite singer from the 1940s and 50s, has died. Here’s the obituary from the New York Times, which for once wasn’t an “o-bitch-uary.” I’m sorry to say that YouTube does not have Stafford’s immortal spoof of the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive.” The site, does, however, have this duet between Stafford and Clooney.
