It’s Meryl’s World, Now & Forever
That the “Mamma Mia” movie is going to be a solid summer hit is no surprise: never, ever bet against Meryl Streep. And speaking of La Streep — who, unbelievably, is turning 60 next year — my spies tell me that her Julia Child in the upcoming release “Julie and Julia” is not camp at all. And it’s not unfunny-goofy like Dan Akroyd’s SNL parody of her, either. No, LemonWade’s sources say that Meryl’s Julia is very intelligent and — surprise! — very heartbreaking. Anyone who thought Meryl would play Julia as a bumbling fool is, himself, a bumbling fool. The performance is strictly one-goddess-playing-another-goddess. Hooray!
