Rauschenberg Dies At Age 82

Robert Rauschenberg, the irrepressibly prolific American artist who time and again reshaped art in the 20th century, died Monday night. He was 82. He’s pictured here at a 1990 party with Liza Minnelli. I can just imagine their cocktail-fueled banter. (“Mama thought your paintings were just brilliant, Bob!” “Thanks, kid!”) I’m linking to the New York Times obit, as well as to Alastair Macaulay‘s analysis of Rauschenberg’s long-time connection to the dance world.
