New York to Madonna: Drop Dead!

madonna.jpg

Madonna is on the cover of the new Vanity Fair. In the accompanying interview, the star slammed New York City’s creative community, griping that Gotham isn’t the same “happening” city it was when she first gained fame more than 20 years ago. “[New York City is] not the same place it used to be,” the London-based Madge tells VF. “It still has great energy. I still put my finger in the socket. But it doesn’t feel alive, cracking with that synergy between the art world and music world and fashion world that was happening in the ’80s.” Gee, Madonna, maybe if you spent less time lounging on your English-country estate and more time checking out what was happening in New York (or London, for that matter), you might not sound so gripingly middle-aged — which you are!
