Is Katie Holmes Broadway-Bound?

Katie Holmes (pictured) — that’s Mrs. Tom Cruise to you — may make her Broadway debut next season. Variety says that the actress is in talks to appear in an upcoming Rialto revival of Arthur Miller’s 1947 play “All My Sons.” Dianne Wiest is also said to be a possibility for the cast, but so far the only confirmed star for the production is John Lithgow.  Brit actor-director Simon McBurney, founder and a.d. of theater troupe Complicite, will likely helm the fall revival, produced by Eric Falkenstein (“Bridge & Tunnel”).

In Miller’s post-WWII drama, Holmes would play a woman who visits the family of the missing pilot she loved.

Lithgow will portray the family patriarch, who harbors a secret about his past selling airplane parts to the U.S. military. Wiest would play his wife.

Broadway stint for Holmes would be a step toward reinvigorating a career that has taken a back seat since the thesp became involved with Tom Cruise, whom she married in 2006. It remains to be seen whether her celeb status would bring in the major surge of theatergoers attracted by recent Rialto engagements of such stars as Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington.

Holmes’ last pic project, “Mad Money,” proved a box office disappointment.

“All My Sons” was previously revived in 1987. The last Miller piece to appear on the Rialto was the Roundabout’s 2004 production of his 1965 play “After the Fall.” Miller died in 2005.
