George Clooney’s Into Leather
The media’s constant comparisons of George Clooney to Cary Grant are sloppy: Grant didn’t direct and wasn’t exactly a shining exemplar of progressive politics. (And I doubt that Clooney will die in Davenport, Iowa, which is my favorite Cary Grant fun fact.) Clooney’s much closer in spirit to Warren Beatty. The Cloon’s new movie, which he directed, is a period-piece football romp called “Leatherheads” (photo above), which stars Clooney; my favorite Hollywood chipmunk, Renee Zellweger; and the bright and appealing “Office” dude John Krasinski. Here’s an early review of the flick, which opens next Friday.
