A Good Night for the French
Marion Cotillard (pictured), in her acceptance speech for Best Actress, was truly, genuinely overcome. When I interviewed her last summer for Interview, she told me that the pressure on her in “La Vie En Rose” was not to be true to Edith Piaf, whom she played in the film, but to lip-synch. Well, she did so brilliantly. Brava! Vive la France! And vive Jean-Paul Gaultier, who did Cotillard’s dress!
