Other Thoughts About SAG Awards
Other thoughts about those who took home SAG awards, a complete list of which is here.
1) It was great to see “30 Rock” honored (Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin), as well as “The Office” (best TV comedy ensemble);
2) That Julie Christie (pictured) won as Best Leading Female Actor bolsters her front-runner status for the Oscars. On the other hand, her shirt-exposed tuxedo outfit made an extremely sloppy impression, and, yes, in Hollywood (surprise!) you are judged by appearances;
3) If Daniel Day-Lewis, the winner for Best Leading Male Actor, doesn’t cop the Oscar, it will be the upset of the decade. Except, of course, for that Oscar upset of two years ago to which Day-Lewis, in his SAG acceptance speech, movingly paid tribute. I’m talking, of course, about “Brokeback Mountain.” Day-Lewis remembered Heath Ledger, acutely singling out Ledger’s last scene in the film. That sequence was, said Day-Lewis, “as moving as anything I’ve ever seen.”
