Mrs. Lovett Has A Little Beast
Helena Bonham Carter, who plays Mrs. Lovett in the movie version of “Sweeney Todd”, and Tim Burton, who directed the film, have just had a baby girl, in London. Mother is doing fine. They are also the parents of a four-year-old son, Billy. The couple learned of the latest pregnancy while in production on “Sweeney Todd,” which apparently caused some continuity problems, as the film was not shot in sequence. “I start off with huge breasts, and then I walk upstairs and suddenly I’ve got tangerines again,” Bonham Carter recently revealed to Playboy magazine. “It’s melons to tangerines.” I wish I could say that melons and tangerines were the only problem with the movie. (And to those readers who think I’m being mean to Bonham Carter by calling her new kid a “beast,” all I can say is: you’ve obviously never listened to the cast album of the original Broadway show.)
