Holiday Cheer in a Scary Package
Anyone who loves to be scared at the movies but for whom the “Saw” and “Hostel” movies are less scary than gross should give thanks this holiday season. The Spanish movie “The Orphanage,” directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, and starring Belen Rueda (pictured) will scare the bejesus out of you. I won’t give away the plot of this ghost tale; I will say that it made me think of horror classics like “The Innocents” and the most nightmare-inducing movie I saw as a child: “The Haunting.” “The Orphanage” opens on December 28.
