Stockhausen Dead at 79
The German musician Karlheinz Stockhausen has died at age 79. His innovative electronic works made him one of the most important composers of the postwar era but his biggest media moment came in 2001, when he described the September 11 attacks in the United States as “the greatest work of art one can imagine.” He later apologized for the remark.
