Ruehl To Star in Albee Play

Mercedes Ruehl will star in the new production of Edward Albee’s “Occupant” this spring at Off Broadway’s Signature Theater. Ruehl played the lead role in Albee’s “The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?” during that show’s 2002 Broadway run.

A play about the sculptor Louise Nevelson, “Occupant” was originally produced at Signature in 2002 in a brief run cut short by the illness of star Anne Bancroft.

New staging will be helmed by Pam MacKinnon, currently repped Off Broadway with her production of Albee’s “Peter and Jerry” at Second Stage.

“Occupant” begins previews May 6 for a May 29 opening.
