Trailer: “Sweeney” Is Not A Musical
Here’s the new (second) trailer for the “Sweeney Todd” movie. There’s no singing at all in it. Dreamworks, the studio behind the picture, seems so terrified of the musical aspect, you’d never know that “High School Musical 2” and “Hairspray” had been two of the biggest pop-culture phenomena of the year. But I guess DW doesn’t care if teenage girls show up at “Sweeney,” while they are desperate to appeal to those girls’ boyfriends. And at this point in the campaign, DW is taking Sondheim fans and musical buffs for granted.
