“Ab Fab” Star Has New Show
English writer and comedienne Jennifer Saunders (pictured here), best known to American audiences from the classic 1990s series “Absolutely Fabulous,” has a new show about to premiere in Britain. Called “The Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle,” the program stars Saunders as a television talk-show host. The fictional skein will tackle such hot topics as “I Want a Vagina — But I’m Addicted to Crack!” and “My Son Calls The Wrong Man Daddy!” No word yet whether “Vyle” will be aired in the United States. I am not sure how well this concept will play here, anyway. We’ve had a raft of series (“The Larry Sanders Show,” for example) that have spoofed the genre, and aren’t chat shows, from “Jerry Springer” to “Oprah,” their own best parodies anyway?
