Cruise and His Band of Conspirators
London’s Daily Mail has a very cool and clean group shot of the actors playing the anti-Hitler conspirators in the summer 2008 release “Valkyrie.” The story contains corresponding pics and brief descriptions of each real-life conspirator. Two things pop to mind: 1) Tom Cruise (number 4) is among the shortest members of this cast, but virtually the tallest in the picture; and 2) Cruise essays a German accent in the movie, which has me a little nervous. The only two other times I can remember him with an accent are in “Far and Away” (Irish) and in “Interview with a Vampire” (pan-European), and in neither would I have nominated him for the Meryl Streep Annual Accent Prize.
