Kidman Miscarried Cruise’s Baby

Nicole Kidman reveals in October’s Vanity Fair magazine that, at age 23, she suffered a miscarriage with husband Tom Cruise.

From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies. And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic. And that’s when it came that we would adopt Bella,” says Kidman.

Married on Christmas Eve in 1990, Cruise and Kidman adopted daughter Isabella two years later, followed by son Connor in 1995.

The magazine profile also unearths her feelings about the series of flings (with the likes of producer Steve Bing and Lenny Kravitz) she had before her marriage to country star Keith Urban.

Turns out life wasn’t as glamorous for Kidman as most would suspect. “You’re in a hotel and you’re like, ‘Okay, well, I’m sitting in this big suite with an Oscar and I still don’t have a life—what is wrong with me? Who do I jump on the bed with and celebrate with and order pancakes with?’ That was painful, not having that person to share it with.”

Well she got her pancake partner—and some syrupy scandal to match.

“We were a mixture of frightened and brave,” she says of her relationship with Urban, who sought drug and alcohol rehabilitation after four months of marriage to Kidman. “We were in a very, very, very bad, painful place and have managed to step through it.”
