Are Musicians Better at Math?
A recent Gallup poll found that 80 percent of Americans believe that learning to play a musical instrument increases one’s mathematical and scientific abilities. But studies have shown that this belief, strictly speaking, is unfounded. There may, however, be other benefits from taking up the piano or the violin — or even the tuba. Here’s why.
